Kurzfassung:

This talk provides an introduction to Newtonian scholarship over the
past 25 and the reformulation of our view of Newton that has taken
place. I will first outline the understanding that was reached in about
1980, when the great generation of twentieth-century Newtonian
scholars completed their work. Then new developments in the study
of Newton?s work on natural sciences and philosophy will be portrayed.
I will show how our understanding of Newton has been influenced
by our view of the context in which Newtons ideas are to be
interpreted.
