Non-renewal spike trains statistics, negative correlations and stochastic oscillations in sensory neurons

I will discuss some what functional implications stochastic oscillations and synchronization might have on statistics of spike trains in sensory neurons. I will present experimental data on paddlefish electroreceptors and contrast them with several generic models. In particular, I will discuss negative correlations between interspike intervals which occur due to slow ionic currents and due to interaction of two oscillators embedded into a single sensory units.
