Anomalous diffusion: wild and bad?
2nd Bad Wildbad meeting on random processes & applications
König Karls Bad, 23rd to 25th September 2019

Organisers

Ralf Metzler, University of Potsdam
Gleb Oshanin, Sorbonne, Paris
Flavio Seno, Università di Padova

Scope
This meeting brings together physicists, chemists, and applied mathematicians to discuss modern topics in non-equilibrium statistical mechanics and stochastic processes. The main focus is to address contemporary experimental results of transport dynamics from complex systems such as living biological cells, and how these data can be mathematically modelled. Topics covered are anomalous diffusion, first passage dynamics, chemical kinetics, non-ergodic and ageing phenomena, passive & active motion, non-Gaussianity, random search processes, infinite densities, and data analysis.

Venue
The meeting will take place in the historical König-Karls-Bad in the centre of the spa town of Bad Wildbad in the Black Forest region of south-west Germany. Set in the deep Enz river valley, Bad Wildbad features several historical spa buildings, among them the operating Graf Eberhards Bad (Palais Thermal), an expansive park along the Enz river, and ample outdoor opportunities in the surrounding forests.
Bad Wildbad can be reached easily by train, the last stop of the line is right in front of the conference venue ( German rail). The closest airport is Stuttgart, another convenient option is Frankfurt. When planning your return trips to the airport allow for enough time.
