Philately

This does not only mean stamp collecting, but philatelists collect and do research in anything which is or has been used as receipt for the postal fees. Also postmarks alone are a field of special interest.

I collect postally used stamps, and am mainly interested in definitive stamps from all over the world. That means "common" stamps like the British Machin design, the German "Famous women" or "Landmarks", the French "Marianne", the Swiss "Animals" and "Professions" series or the Chinese Great Wall issue, just to name a few examples. Boring? No way! Actually, there is at least as much fun in it as in collecting commemorative stamps. It can also be quite a hunt to find some definitives in good used condition.
Because quite a number of such stamps are still missing in my collection, I have started to compile some lists of stamps I am still looking for.

Below you'll find some philately links:

Topics of special interest: Stamps and postmarks: Books, magazines, catalogs: Unsorted: Other collecting interests (numismatics): In my opinion, philately and business should be kept as far away from each other as possible. However, I have included some links to WWW pages of dealers or auctions where one might find other interesting information than just offers and prices.
