300 y direction London, then turn left ;-)
Carling, Greene King IPA (GBP 1.75/pint), Greene King XS, Stella Artois; Strongbow
If a pub is called "The Paddington", it might have to do with railways, and indeed, this one is decorated with many railway paintings, signs and announcements as well as with old advertisements, travel bags, suitcases, umbrellas. Just the thing to feel oneself almost at the station.
14/V/1999
just opposite the station
open daily
Abbot, Greene King, Guinness, Harp, Kronenbourg 1664, XS; Strongbow Cider
Enter - and the bar is just in front of you, the billiards room to the left. Some "railwayana" are on display, e.g. a model of a steam locomotive, and on the walls are a few pictures of railways. One of the photos shows a train which has apparently fallen from the nearby railway bridge. Does anybody know when this has happened?
XI/1998
about 300 yards from the station, in Harrow Arts Centre
open in the evenings
Chiswick Bitter (1.80 GBP/pint), Caffrey's, Carling, London Pride, Stella Artois; Scrumpy Jack
After leaving the station's main door, turn left, walk over the bridge across the railway and cross the street. The bar is in the main building of Harrow Arts Centre. It is decorated with theatre posters, mainly remembering operas by Gilbert and Sullivan (whose works are sometimes performed by Harrow artists).

across the road, about 150 yards
Carlsberg 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. 1.50 GBP/pint), Guinness, Löwenbräu (2.30 GBP/pint), XXXX; Strongbow

Calders, Carlsberg, Guinness, Pedigree (1.85 GBP/pint), Speckled Hen, Stella Artois, Tetley's, XXXX; Blackthorn Cider
A large house with ample room, suitable for families, the children's corner is called the "Wacky Warehouse". Just the thing if one is too early for the train (but be careful, you might become late ...)
XII/1998
in the main hall, south-eastern corner
open daily
Bass Ale, Beamish Red Ale (2.25 GBP/pint), Foster's Lager, Guinness Stout, Heineken, John Smiths's Bitter, Kronenbourg 1664, Murphy's Stout, Newcastle Brown Ale; Strongbow Cider
A small pub with a large variety of drinks, only those are mentioned
above which are draught. Unfortunately, it seems to be rather expensive.
Be twice careful if you intend to test all sorts of ale and
beer which are sold there! Not only that drinking nine pints at once is
rather hard work (I wouldn't try this myself), the WC is outside,
and there you will be charged another 10 p per visit ...
A hint for trainspotters:
One can walk between Charing Cross and Waterloo stations
on a walkway beside the railway tracks on the bridge.

An old half-timbered house, the furniture, of course, made of dark wood. The rooms nearer the road are used as a pub, the other ones - with a splendid view towards Windsor castle - are a restaurant. Much quieter than anything near the other station (Windsor & Eton Central) which is only about 400 yards away and crowded with shops and cafés.
